Schools, Museums, and Libraries galore

Hoboken and Jersey City is filled with unique and diverse places. Some of the wonderful facilities include the libraries, Museums, and schools offered to fit your child’s needs. Here are just a few of the places to visit while you’re in Jersey City and Hoboken.

Jersey City Free Public Library

The main library in Jersey City is sure to spark interest. The library currently has grown and has a staggering amount of books which include 15, 515 books. The library has numerous activities including upcoming events such as the “Back to school craft” for kids, a late movie night, and summer movie days. Make sure to join the book club which is perfect for you and your children.


Hoboken Public Library

The Hoboken Public Library is a popular facility full of limitless opportunities. The library offers a huge reference  department full of 17,800 volumes. The library also offers customer adult services as well as a huge children’s book section with the best and most popular books. The children’s department also offers free passes to many museums such as the Museum of Manhattan, the Cooper Hewitt Museum, Frick Museum, and many more. These can be distributed and used for a total of 48 hours. The library also has a summer reading program and a “Tiny tots” which is program dedicated for infants which includes sing along and a variety of games.


Guggenheim Museum

This museum is a historically updated art museum that features the most iconic and unique pieces. Its centered in the heart of NYC and features modern and contemporary art. The exhibits include  “A year with children” in which children examine art pieces created by students in the New York area. Students can also investigate culture, learn about identities, as well as ethnicities through various art pieces.


Garden State Discovery Museum

The Garden State Discovery Museum is one of the largest museums in Cherry Hill New Jersey! The Museum is dedicated toward children with its “Movie Mondays.” After 5:00 pm admission becomes $2.50. The museum has an “Ice Cream Social” on October 3 and 4th for people of all ages. With October right around the corner, take the whole family out to enjoy the “Rumpkin Plaza” which includes pony rides and moon rides. Admission for the event is $5 all day.



Library Science Center

The Library science center is conveniently located in Jersey City. The Science Center is located in the heart of Liberty State park. The museum has an IMAX theater which features a huge 88 ft. screen with over 400 seats. The movies shown in the theater include “Robots daily,” “Humpback whales,” and many more. The Museum also has a block party which allows your little one to express their creative side in which they can build a fort, design a sailboat, or paint a masterpiece!


Sylvan Learning Center

The Sylvan Learning Center is located in Jersey City and assists in tutoring needs for school aged children in a variety of subjects. The mission of Sylvan’s learning center is for students to succeed  while being engaged in a dynamic learning environment. They offer programs such as math tutoring, reading tutors, and writing tutors as well.

Arts in the Park

Movies in the Park

Movies in the park is a great way to experience West New York night life. Make sure to head down to McEldowney field between 61st and 62nd at 7:30 p.m.

Edge Water recreation center

The recreation center is located on Pleasant Beach’s boardwalk and allows a FREE trip to the beach. The dates for the trip are August 13, 20th, and the 27th. The departure for the beach is 8:15 am and the return time is 5:00 pm. The cost for adults is $18.00 and children pay $12.00. Seats are limited so please call 201-943-1700 for more details.


Hoboken Family Fun Nights

Enjoy a fun filled day with the family from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This is a FREE event in which a variety of activities will take place including music, clowns, and sing-alongs. Make sure to bring a blanket with you.

Disney Trivia

Do you ever reminisce about your favorite Disney movie? Maybe you wish you could re live your childhood again. Look no further than “Disney Trivia nights” at Maxwell’s Tavern. This event takes place August 12, 2015 starting at 8:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm. Put your knowledge to the test as hosts will ask you questions based off of Disney classics including “Aladdin,” “Bambi,” and “The Little Mermaid.”

There are also ice walkers available for younger children and please be sure to stay with your child on the rink, to provide them with extra support and security.
