Middle School Information Session in Jersey City

December 10, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Middle School Information Session in Jersey City

As Jersey City grows and families decide to stay in the area as their children get older, parents have requested more information about the Middle School options in Jersey City and Hoboken.

JCFamilies are organizing a Middle School Information Session on December 10th from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm. The idea for this event is to provide options for parents and give them information about the local middle schools in the area. Do you want to know the process of applying for Middle Schools like Academy 1, MS 4, Explore Middle School, or Infinity Institute? Then this session will be perfect for you!

Common Questions Answered:

1. The school does not provide bussing.  The school district provides bus ticket applications to all students to determine if they qualify for public bus tickets.  Middle school students must live at least 2.0 miles from the school.
2. Information about the process will be posted on the district website (www.jcboe.org). At this time, the district has not finalized the admissions process for the 2022-2023 school year.  Once it has been finalized, the district will be sharing with both public and non-public school counselors and administrators.  Last year, the application process was online.  At this time, I do not know if it will be online or paper-based.  We based the number admitted on the number of available open seats for the year.  For next year’s 6th grade class, we look to admit 40- 50 students.
3. Our school’s curriculum is a blended curriculum of Cambridge University and the district’s approved ELA, Math, and Science curricula).  Our 6th-grade students follow a 6th grade blended curriculum.  They do not follow a 7th-grade curriculum as in AEP.
4. Students are expected to receive homework assignments every night and possibly in all subjects each night.

  • why dont you include any of the schools that is in the AEP (Advenced enrichment program) MS4, academy 1 and infinity school. Those are the top rated middle school programs.

    • I would like to know how schools were selected to participate in this event. As a teacher at MS 7- one of our public middle schools in Jersey City, I am confused as to why only certain schools are on this list.

      • Hello Emily,

We reached out to all the schools in Jersey City, but unfortunately most of the public schools do not participate, would you be able to forward the email address for the contact person for your school, we can invite them.

      • We reached out to all public schools, charter schools, and private Middle schools to participate in the event, some of them did not revert, and a few canceled at the last minute; we want to include as many middle schools as possible.

    • Hello Cengiz Ozdemir,

Academy 1 and infinity school will be attending the event this year, we are still waiting for the confirmation for MS 4. We will update the list as soon as we hear back from them.

  • Hello, you have old information about the number of students in Infinity Institute. This number was 2 years ago. Now its 500+ students.

  • The information listed for MS 4 is incorrect. While they share there campus with PS 3 those are two completely different schools.
