There is something so magical about watching a movie outdoors in the park in summertime. The big screen, turning your car into a couch, and enjoying a night under the stars – use this guide to help plan out your movies in the parks in Jersey City.

Here are some tips to make sure you enjoy your experience each evening.

1. Come early! Reserve your seats as movies in the park in Jersey City can get pretty crowded on a beautiful summer evening.

Summer Film Series: Hamilton Park, Jersey City

Hamilton Park has been offering movies in the parks in Jersey City since 2013, and they will be offering them again this year on the following dates: June 23, July 28, August 25, September 23, and October 14. Films in Van Vorst: Van Vorst Park, Jersey City

Van Vorst Park is a great location if you are looking for movies in the parks in Hoboken and Jersey City. Every year, a team of volunteers come together to strengthen community through art using beautiful outdoor space. They are the team that brings you Films in Van Vorst, and they take care of everything from the films to the popcorn, all for free.

Bring a chair, your family or friends, and enjoy the movies at Van Vorst Park in Jersey City. The park gets set up every other week. Watch the website for the schedule for Summer 2017.

Films in Van Vorst was envisioned, in 2004, as a way to combine these elements and to generate an environment where we could meet and strengthen our sense of community while finding new and imaginative ways to utilize of our beautiful park. We were the very first outdoor film series in Jersey City.

Summer Movies In the Park: city-wide, Jersey City

The city of Jersey City puts together an annual Movies in the Park series across multiple parks in Jersey City. Every year, movies in the parks in  Jersey City get more exciting as the movie titles are always classics, or just-released films. All movies are free at each park, and getting there early with comfy chairs, blankets and snacks is a must! Keep checking the city website for the summer schedule and movies that are playing in each park.

Outdoor Movie Nights: Newport Green Playground, Jersey City

Newport Green Playground offers movies in the parks in Jersey City, and it starts at the end of June this year, kicking off with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on June 28th. Admission is free, and you’ll be able to grab some Italian Ice from Loradella’s ice cart. Keep checking the Newport Jersey City Apartments Facebook page for events throughout the summer. Movies Under the Stars: Pier A Park, Hoboken

Movies in the parks in Hoboken and Jersey City don’t get much better than the Movies Under the Stars events. Located at Pier A Park, Mama Johnson Field, and Maxwell Place Park in Hoboken, these weekly movies in the park are free!
