This shelter helps families become self-sufficient by giving them an opportunity for decision-making and for improving their situation. This is done under the supervision, support, and guidance of shelter staff. This facility houses up to 20 mothers and their children. The program offers short-term supervised residence, including three meals a day, assessment/planning, case management, housing, education, food, and clothing.

With a supervised 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, year-round emergency shelter facility for single women and men offering emergency housing and food for those in need. The staff at St. Lucy’s emergency shelter is kind and giving. Within the first week of getting here, people meet with specialized staff to assess their current situation. Once their needs are determined, clients are referred to one or more services. This could be welfare, SSI, unemployment, job training, job search, education, and mental-health/addiction-treatment programs. The shelter provides two meals a day, clothing as well as a shower program, and outreach services for the unsheltered homeless.

The York Street Project builds innovative programs that provide an environment to shelter, feed, educate and promote the healing of persons in need, especially women, children, and their families. Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, the York Street Project works on collaborated to work with the poor and oppressed in Jersey City.

The York Street Project takes on the highly-visible factors of Education, Housing, and Childcare that generally block women from creating self-fulfilled, self-sufficient lives. This place then works on these factors to improvise and sustain livelihoods.
At the same time they also take on the less visible factors, healing the hidden damages, unlearning the lessons of hopelessness and helplessness, restoring destroyed self-esteem; the york street project actively and compassionately works with women and children to address these needs.

Women rising has been actively working with those in need- in need of jobs, safety from domestic violence, freedom from substance abuse, safe homes for children. WomenRising meets these needs by providing supportive counseling, crisis intervention, workforce development and job placement, shelter for victims of domestic violence, outreach, advocacy, and referrals.

WomenRising is the foremost community-based organization for women in Hudson County. They assist women and their families to achieve self-sufficiency and live safe, productive, and fulfilling lives, through social services, economic development, and advocacy services.

Hoboken Shelter’s single most important mission is to assist homeless men and women. They help them in developing the skills needed to gain employment, achieve independence, and re-integrate into the community. The ultimate goal is to end homelessness one person at a time!

The Hoboken Shelter takes a holistic approach to helping people in need. It shelters 50 people nightly, serves 530 meals daily, and provides such support services as case management, counseling, job & life skills training, creative arts workshops, emergency homelessness prevention grants, & permanent supportive housing solutions.
