This is the most prominent Indian Independence Day event in downtown Jersey City; you don’t want to miss this.
This year, we are proud to showcase Mallakhamba, or Mallakhamb, a traditional sport originating from the Indian subcontinent, in which a group of gymnasts perform aerial yoga and gymnastic postures using wrestling grips in concert with a stationary vertical pole. The word “mallakhamb” also refers to the pole used in the sport.
We also invite seniors and parents to join the group, singing the Indian national anthem with kids.
There will be adult dance performances, solo and group singing, kids’ dance performances, desi food, Bollywood music, and dance, as well as local businesses selling their products and services.
There will be face-painting from 5 to 7 pm at the event.
We also invite our seniors for flag hosting and to sign the national anthem on the stage.
Also, there are lots of activities for kids and parents.
