Farmer’s Market Open in Jersey City

The weather is warming up and Farmer’s Market season is officially here. We all want to step out and get some fresh air and want to buy fresh food and produce. Luckily, multiple Farmer’s Markets will be opening up for the season around Jersey City but with proper social distancing guidelines.

Mayor Fulop announced: ‘Step by step we’ll move forward. Next week we’ll start to open our 9 Farmers’ Markets throughout #JerseyCity – we will take precautions, more space between vendors, masks required, rules in place BUT we have to trust residents to make good decisions. We’ll offer each market tool to manage costs, provide sanitation station + food for ppl in need at the end of the market day which will help both farmers + struggling families. We’ll discourage multiple family members, prepared foods + music to focus on essentials at this time. We need to slowly move forward.’

HDSID Farmer’s Market

Farmer's Market Opening in Jersey City

The HDSID Farmers Market will be opening on May 11th from 4-8 pm! In light of the current situation concerning COVID-19, they have implemented certain guidelines that businesses should follow to prevent the spread of this virus. The HDSID and our Market Manager, have been in constant contact with Jersey City Health Officials and will proceed with the season but will implement new procedures to ensure a successful Market for our visitors and vendors alike.

The Farmer’s Market location will remain at the Grove PATH Plaza but will also include the “first green” area of the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Mall. This is to ensure that all vendors are at least 6 feet away from each other and not in close quarters. This will allow visitors and vendors alike to maintain appropriate social distances. Signs promoting and reminding visitors and vendors alike to please maintain 6 feet apart will be spread throughout the Plaza and Mall area. They will also have caution tape and signs on the ground promoting social distancing. There will be a reduced number of vendors that will be taking precautions.

They have also have introduced other ways to shop online and pick up groceries. This way shoppers can enjoy local produce and support local businesses without having to spend too much time in the area. Click here to view all the farm’s profiles and shop directly.
