Most babies take to figs very enthusiastically because of their mildly sweet taste and grainy texture – something new for their palates.
Apricot and fig puree, thinned down with milk, is a good combination rich in vitamin A and fibre.
Milk adds calcium which is required for the healthy development of your baby’s bones.

Ingredients
2 dried apricots (kuumani/jardalu)
2 dried figs (anjeer)
1/4 cup milk
Method
Soak the apricots and figs in lukewarm water for about half an hour. Drain both the apricots and figs and deseed the apricots.
Add milk it and liquidise in a blender to make a smooth puru00e9e.
Strain to remove the seeds of the figs. Serve immediately.
Tips
VARIATIONS: BANANA AND PAPAYA PUREE
This delicious puree with 4 tablespoons of banana puru00e9e and 4 tablespoons of papaya puree is also healthy for your baby.
PAPAYA AND MANGO PUREE
Your little one will also relish the combination of 1/4 cup of papaya puru00e9e mixed with 1/4 cup of mango puru00e9e and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice.
MANGO AND COCONUT PUREE
A puree of 1/2 cup of chopped mango and 1/4 cup of chopped tender coconut flesh can also be occasionally served as a variation.
Do not add milk to this combination however.
