I’m currently working on a new children’s book based on my experiences called, “The Angry Artist”. It’s ok to giggle at the title, I’m hoping that’s what children will be doing one day! My first book was published by Sunbury Press in 2011, and the question on everyone’s mind ever since has been “When’s the next one coming out??”. The publishing world has drastically changed in the last few years as we’re all well aware, but the one diamond in the rough is the importance of printed children’s book. I was more than happy to discover the NYC Public Library is now offering a free glimpse back in time of all the most memorable books in kids literature.
The exhibit is called ‘The ABC of It: Why Children’s Books Matter’click on the link for all the information like times, dates, directions, etc. Once inside, children will have access to a life sized set from the story ‘Good Night Moon’ as well as an interactive ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ display.
Books from many years ago are available to glance at under glass, but there are also other fun kid friendly activities that are located at a child’s eye level 😉
Here are some teddy bears and other cute friends to look at!
Check out this awesome life sized spider web! One of my favorite books as a child was ‘Charlotte’s Web’, and the beautiful thing is that it will be a life changing book for many other generations much younger than me too.
After checking out this wonderfully curated show, visit the library’s gift store for an awesome selection of children’s books that you might have never seen before! There’s many New York City stories that are perfect for little ones living in the metro area. Happy Reading!
Moms, my greatest passion as an artist is teaching art to children. They are always open to trying new things and experimenting with new and creative ideas and mediums. I offer private and small group lessons to children in the Newport area. As a special incentive for the holiday season, mention JCFamilies when you sign up for home lessons and receive 15% off your first class! The regular price is only $20 per child for classes of up to 3 kids. Great for siblings or friends during the upcoming cold weather months. Visit my website for more information!
