The Ethical Community Charter School GIVING DAY

Since its inception in September 2009, The Ethical Community Charter School (TECCS) has been a beacon of academic excellence and community engagement. What started with 120 kindergartners and first graders has blossomed into a dynamic K-8 school, now educating nearly 400 children from diverse backgrounds.
Founded on the principles of ethics, service, and social justice, TECCS was born from the collaboration of Jersey City families seeking exceptional education and a team from New York inspired by the renowned Ethical Culture Fieldston School. This unique partnership birthed an ethics-based institution tailored to Jersey City’s vibrant community.
Growing Together, Thriving Together
Over the years, TECCS has not only expanded in size but also forged strong bonds within the community and embarked on mission-driven initiatives. As a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project and the Ashoka Changemaker Schools network, TECCS is committed to fostering intercultural dialogue and empowering changemakers of tomorrow.
Our commitment to holistic education extends beyond the classroom. Through grants and partnerships, our students participate in initiatives like Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” Active Schools program, Drew University’s Shakespeare Festival, and tailored reading programs by esteemed educators like Mary McGriff and Shira Epstein.
A Community of Integrity and Insight
At TECCS, we believe in nurturing analytical thinking, creativity, and individuality. Our teachers lead by example, fostering a culture of rigorous academics, mutual respect, and collaborative learning. We prioritize integrity, autonomy, and social responsibility, empowering our students to become not just academically proficient but also socially conscious leaders and citizens.
Expanding Our Commitment to Quality Education
Starting September 2024, we are excited to announce a free pre-K 4 program, furthering our commitment to accessible and quality education for all. Additionally, as recipients of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) award, TECCS offers free tutoring, homework help, and afterschool enrichment for students in grades 3-8. As we continue our journey of empowering minds and building futures, TECCS remains dedicated to providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and ethically.
Join us at TECCS, where education is a journey of discovery, growth, and positive.
