      Dear Families,
      I received a request from Denise, the Healing the Children (HTC) director for NJ. Healing the Children is a non-profit organization that arranges for special surgeries here in the US for children from impoverished families. I hosted a 2 year old blind Dominican boy 2 years back and it was a very rewarding experience.
      Please see her request below:
      “I have a child from the Dominican Republic who was accepted at St. Peter’s University Hospitalin New Brunswick. Dr. Palder is the donating surgeon. The mom, due to the complexity of the child’s case,may be required totravel with the child. The boy’s date of birth is 11/9/13.
      Would you or do you knowof anyone who would be interested in helping and bewilling to host this mother and child? There is a possibility that he can travel w/o his mother. I waiting to get an updated medical report from my contact and I will consult with Dr. Palder once I receive it.
      Both thehospital and doctor are in New Brunswick. Unfortunately I do not have a time frame for how long he will need to be here, but I think it is safe to say that it will be at least four – six months. I will do my best to find out that information as well.
      There are a couple of options;
      1. hosting just the child if this is a possibility
      2. hosting mom and childor
      3. co-hosting; sharing the responsibility with two or threeother host families; each hosting
      for approximately 3-4 weeks.
      I have attached a brief report and pictures for your review. Please let me know your thoughts.
      Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
      Denise

      HTCNJ”

      If you want further details and information, you may contact me directly and I can arrange for you to contact Denise. Besides Daniel, there are other children in need of host family placement.

      Sincerely,

      Jennifer
