Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

Slowly and slowly, everything is opening up around Jersey City including businesses, parks, hiking trails, beaches, and boardwalks along the Jersey Shore. With some restrictions, you will be able to enjoy the weekend and summer on a local beach and boardwalk. The opening goes into effect May 22, the beginning of Memorial Day weekend. Most beaches across Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean counties are currently open to the public. Check out this list of all the beaches and boardwalks opening near Jersey City.

Atlantic City

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The beaches and boardwalk are open and will continue to stay open with social distancing guidelines in place.

Allenhurst

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The boardwalk and beach are open. Visit Allenhurstnj.org for updates.

Asbury Park

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The beaches are open at Asbury Park. Swimming is permitted and the boardwalk is open with one-way foot traffic set up to promote social distancing. City officials will limit the number of people allowed.

Avalon

The beach is opening for sunbathing, walking, surfing and lifeguards will be on duty starting May 22. The boardwalk will open also on May 22. No beach tags will be required until July 3.

Avon-by-the-Sea

The boardwalk is now open with social distancing guidelines in place. Beaches will be open on the weekends of May 23, May 30, June 6 and June 13. The beach will remain open daily starting June 15.  The restrooms and benches to sit are closed though.

Belmar

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The beach and boardwalk are open at Belmar. No dogs are allowed on the beach or boardwalk and bicycling, rollerblading, and skateboarding are all prohibited. No volleyball or any type of ball playing.

Bradley Beach

The promenade and beach are open for exercise purposes only.

Brick

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The beach will open for swimming Memorial Day weekend. The beach will open daily starting June 15th. Brick beaches 1, 2, and 3 are currently open for passive recreation only.

Brigantine 

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The beach will open for swimming and sunbathing starting May 22nd as long as social distancing guidelines are followed.

Cape May

Cape May’s beaches and promenade are open for walking and jogging. Fishing, and surfing is allowed.  Sunbathing is not permitted and masks are required. Any other group activities and beach chairs are not allowed.

Harvey Cedars

Beaches are open for walking, jogging, fishing, and sitting. Congregating in groups is prohibited and social distancing must be adhered to, according to the borough.

Island Beach State Park

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The boardwalk, beach, and park are open. The park’s office, Nature Center, and restrooms remain closed until further notice. Social distancing is required and parking capacity has been reduced to 50%.

Long Branch

Long Branch beach will open on May 23rd. The boardwalk and promenade are now open with social distancing in place. The bathrooms are closed. Portable restrooms are available. Visit Longbranch.org for updates.

Lavallette

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The beach is open for walking, running, and fishing. The boardwalk is closed until further notice. It is scheduled to open June 20th.

Margate

The beach will open Memorial Day weekend for walking, jogging, and exercising while following social distancing. Sunbathing, sports, sitting on the beach or chairs are prohibited.

Manasquan

Starting May 22nd, the beach will be open to season pass holders only. Each day the capacity will be monitored and plans will be made if needed to reduce access. The beach walk will remain closed north-to-south, and use will be limited to east-to-west crossings to access the beach.

Mantoloking

The beach will open with lifeguards and badge checkers starting June 20th.

City of Wildwood

The beach is open. Walking, running, and operating a wheelchair are all permitted on both the beaches and boardwalk, as are engaging in outdoor activities. Social distancing guidelines must be followed by individuals. r

Ocean City

The beach is open. The boardwalk is open for walking, running, and bicycling. Visit Ocnj.us for updates.

Ocean Grove

The beach and boardwalk are open. The restrooms are closed and social distancing guidelines are in place.

Ortley Beach

The boardwalk and beach are now open. Beach badges are required starting June 16.

Point Pleasant

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

The beaches operated by Point Pleasant Borough and Riverside Park will open May 22. The Borough of Point Pleasant Beach has provided reopening details on its website, including daily limitations on the number of groups allowed on the beach at any one time.

Sandy Hook

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

Sandy Hook Beach is now open. Ocean and bayside beaches of the Gateway National Recreation Area are accessible for passive recreational use only, including running, hiking, fishing, and kayaking. Swimming, picnicking and group gatherings, and activities are prohibited.

Sea Bright

Sea bright beaches remain open with social distancing guidelines.

Sea Girt

The beach and boardwalk will open Memorial Day weekend. Bathrooms will be closed with the exception of beachfront bathrooms at the pavilion and will open in accordance with beachfront operating times.

Seaside Heights

Beaches Opening Near Jersey City

Activities on the beach are limited to walking, jogging, active surf fishing, and surfing. Swimming, beach chairs, blankets, sitting, standing, coolers and dogs are all prohibited from the beach. Social distancing is required.

Seaside Park

The beach, boardwalk, and bay are open. Beach badges will be required on weekends from Memorial Day weekend through June 29. Daily beach badges will be required starting June 30.

Spring Lake

The beach is open starting May 23. Badges are required every weekend from Memorial Day weekend through June 14. The boardwalk is closed for now.

Stone Harbor

The beaches open May 22 for passive and active recreation including sunbathing.

Ventnor City

The beaches will open for swimming and sunbathing on May 23. The boardwalk will open May 29. Walking, running or jogging, exercising, and dog walking using a leash while maintaining social distancing are permitted. Surfing and paddle boarding are also permitted, as are singles rowing and kayaking.
