Kathak Dance Classes in Jersey City
Beginning October 10th, 2017 onwards
Beginner Children (ages 6+):
This class will consist of training young dancers in pure classical Kathak dance and vocabulary. Kathak consists of not only understanding rhythm through footwork and padhant (vocal) of Kathak bols (language) but also grace thru hand movements and todas (full movement patterns set to a particular beat) and chakars (pirouettes). These classes will also enrich students with knowledge of Indian culture, mythological stories and much more!
Beginner Adults:
The adult beginner class is for those who truly enjoy learning a classical art form but also want to apply it. A large portion of the class will consist of understanding basic Kathak vocabulary and learning the essentials of footwork, chakars and todas. The other part of class will focus on applying Kathak movement to classical/fusion-classical music and learning small pieces of choreography!
