Hi Moms,

Yesterday’s demo class by Plawini (the instructor) was a huge success! Plawini will be starting classes this week in Newport.

She isan excellent performer and teacher. She is very flexible and willing to come to your home to teach – She decided that this may be the best approach initially due to the varied age groups and skill levels of the kids.

Her charges are $130 for 8sessions (1 class per week).

Preferred age for enrolling is 4 yrs and up.

Instructor: Plawini Pawar (an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer and a Newport resident)

Plawini started to learn Bharathnatyam at age of 8 and did her Arangethram in 2005 with Guru Mai Meera Ganapathy Dhanu, performing artist and senior student of Kalaimamani Guru Kalyan Sundaram of Rajrajeshwari Bharathnatyam Kala Mandir, Mumbai. She has performed several group and solo performances, both in India and in US. Last performance that she did was for Holi Festival on 19th Mar 2011 in Manhattan. While she was in India she has volunteered for conducting classes on behalf of her Guru in school with 15 to 20 students.

She is the founder of Cosmic World of Bharathnatyam Dance School. She will be teaching the Thanjavur style of Bharathnatyam starting from basic foot steps then proceed on teaching hand Mudra’s and Adavu’s. She will also teach dance on light devotional songs with use of very basic movements and steps.
