I would like to share yet another great nutrition value and very simple recipe. Its part of my daughter’s daily meals ever since she turned 8 months. All thanks to my sister in law, who made me understand its value. Besides I saw folks in Rural India compulsory abide into this ingredient for their kids! Its like unsaid law or rule among ladies! haha!
Another note, we often see moms complaining the LO does not eat. or is lower in growth percentiles. This has great potential to raise the bar…No kidding!
Naachani Satva/Halwa –
Ingredients –
Naachani Flour or Ragi Flour. You get them on all Indian stores including Prime Food Market, newport. Jaggary Water Milk Cardmom Powder
Recipe
1. Mix 3/4 teaspoon of Naachani flour into cold water until all lumps are gone.
2. Cook and stir continously on Middle flame or heat till it gets viscous.
3. Add Jaggary, pinch of salt(optional), pinch of Cardmom powder.
4. Add milk(optional).
If it gets too much viscous or forms lumps, add more water or milk to loosen it up. The key is to stir continously while on heat.
5. remove from heat, and its ready to serve.
Tip: 1. When my LO was younger than 1 year, I used to sieve the Raagi flour or even tried my hands on Indian Ragi Malts which are generally package sold in india..
2. For babies if you feel its coarse, or strong in taste, add any cereal to compliment. 🙂
