Unless you’re familiar with My Gym Children’s Fitness Center’s location, you might miss it. Located on the lower level of St. Michael Church at 252 9th St, you will find the largest children’s facility in Jersey City. That’s right, the largest! I met with My Gym Children’s Fitness Center’s director, Sabrina and she gave me the grand tour.
My Gym Children’s Fitness Center Jersey City provides classes and activities for children starting as young as 6-weeks-old to 10-years-olds. Each class is specifically tailored to each age group and is grouped based on parent participation and independent classes.

Independent Classes: These classes are for children 3.25 to 13 years of age and encourage them to explore activities on their own and with their peers.

If you have a little one who is 3.25 to 10 years-old, they have the opportunity to earn their belts with martial arts! About every four months, once the instructor begins to see that the kids are ready, they hold a belt ceremony where kids have the opportunity to move onto the next level belt. The ceremony includes board breaking, punching and kicking skills.
“We try to keep it fresh for the kids,” says Sabrina as she points out the different gymnastic bars and beams, trampoline, swings, ball pit and mini zip-line.
Before each class, the kids and instructors begin with warm-up activities in the center of the gym to make sure your little ones are stretched and ready to take on the fun!
My Gym Children’s Fitness Center Jersey City is currently in full Halloween spirit! Paper ghosts hang from the ceiling, orange and black decorations add to the already brightly colored and spacious play area, a Frankenstein cutout dances on the wall. They will be hosting their Halloween party on October 26th for enrolled members only. As a community supporter, My Gym Children’s Fitness Center Jersey City will sponsor the Downtown Family Halloween Bash on Oct 31st at Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza. There are plenty of community parties and events that you can reserve a spot for!
Speaking of parties, My Gym Children’s Fitness Center Jersey City is a great place to celebrate your child’s special day! Birthday party packages come in three options: grand celebration, deluxe celebration and premium celebration. You don’t have to be a member to host a party there, but you do get a discount if you are one!

My Gym was founded in 1983 Van Nuys and Santa Monica, California. It was born out of the passion to teach children in a fun, physically engaging environment. 35 years later, it has grown to multiple areas throughout the country and has made a home right here in Jersey City!
