Meet Adam Kant and Joan Lazar of the newest gym in Jersey City: Intrepid Gym Jersey City!
Adam is lover of all things fitness and the owner of Intrepid Gyms. He started with the first location in Hoboken back in 2011, which he lovingly refers to as his baby. He then opened his second location in Montclair, New Jersey in 2016. Finally, he opened up the Jersey City location very recently in April. And some exciting news – a location in Madison, New Jersey is also in the works.
Joan is the Manager of the Jersey City location as well as a personal trainer at both the Jersey City and Hoboken locations. She has a degree in exercise science and calls fitness her one true love! She has a passion for teaching and never stops learning when it comes to exercise and movement. In other words, what more could you ask for in a gym manager?
Intrepid Gym Jersey City is conveniently located at 255 Brunswick Street in the Hamilton Park neighborhood in Jersey City, right above Kiddie Academy! In other words, it is the perfect gym for those dropping off their kids at daycare to stop by at and take some time for themselves!
So why did Intrepid Gyms begin?
Adam started Intrepid Gyms because he wanted to create a third space for people outside of the home and work space. He saw an opportunity to create a space that fosters community and wanted to create a place that people can go to make friends with people who are all focusing on the same thing: bettering themselves.
After opening locations in Hoboken and Montclair, Adam and Joan decided on opening up a new location in Jersey City for a number of reasons. First of all, they are both Jersey City locals, calling The Heights home. Additionally, Jersey City is booming with new residences and businesses popping up everywhere! In other words, it is constantly expanding! They wanted to create a community based gym for all the people who call Jersey City home.
Intrepid is a great option for your workouts as they offer a wide range of classes at various times throughout the day. With their morning classes at 5:45 AM and 6:30 AM you can get your workout in before work and start your day off on the right foot. A class at 9 AM is perfect for parents dropping their kids off at school, camp or daycare. They can kiss their kids goodbye and then come to Intrepid Gym Jersey City to take part in either bootcamp or yoga. Finally, for those who like to get their sweat on at the end of the day, classes are offered at 5:30 PM and 7 PM as well.
While the class times are vast, so are the class options! From bootcamps, to yoga, from TRX to rowing – Intrepid offers something for everyone! On August 11th, Intrepid Gym Jersey City will be hosting their first ever Jersey City Adventure Run. They have partnered up with many local spots throughout Jersey City and starting at the Gym, participants will run from location to location picking up tickets. The more tickets one collects, the higher their odds of winning as the tickets will be entered into a raffle and randomly drawn to select winners to receive prizes from the participating local businesses. The event is completely free, all you have to do is register with the gym by emailing them at [email protected].
