New Location, Same Old Soul: Northern Soul in Hoboken
Northern Soul is a staple haunt of our beloved city. So when they closed their original doors in 2016 many of the locals were devastated by the news. Well despair no more. Northern Soul has nestled itself back into the busy downtown of Hoboken NJ, this time with a prime location under the Sky Club at 700 First St, Hoboken NJ 07030.
The new NoSo has an enlarged bar space complete with flat screen tv’s for game day and Noso’s staple pool table and vintage jukebox. The dart board is in full effect in the rear of the bar area. From the bar area you can order food and drinks to one of the many high top tables, the space is versatile enough to accommodate both small and large groups comfortably.
At the other end there is a semi private dining room with some super cool art work including a mural from Italian Street artist Luca Font. Last but not least they have a super unique custom built Wine Barrel room where you can chill out on leather loveseats or snap a pic in their old school photo booth to bring a piece of soul home with you.
But if it’s a meal you came for, then a meal you can get. Northern Soul’s new location has a one of a kind menu with a new vision of what food in Hoboken can be. They have both vegetarian and carnivorous options, think healthy comfort food. This is the type of menu that you can feel good feeding yourself or your family off, the type of menu you can eat from a few times a week not just once a month. Best of all it’s priced super reasonably, everything on the menu is under $20 and they have daily specials so there is always something new to try.
Speaking of family, Northern Soul Kitchen & Bar is reinventing the children’s menu with new takes on old classics and some healthy options for good measure. From strawberry preserves with sun butter to staples like burgers and personal pizzas, they have a few ideas up their sleeves for some very inventive kids and even baby food in the future, watch this space!
