Holiday Lights Spectacular – West Orange, NJ 

Holiday Events In and Around Jersey City

If you and the kids find nothing more spectacular and mesmerizing than Christmas and holiday lights, a trip to the Holiday Lights Spectacular is a must this holiday season. The event is free and begins on November 17. It is open every night from 5-9 pm (except for December 24-25). It takes place at the Essex County Turtleback Zoo and is a walkable light show. It features tons of sparkling lights and over 50 different animals and characters that are full of lights as well. Although the event is free, it is recommended you bring food and clothing donations to help make everyone’s holiday season merry and bright. Swedish Christmas Fair – Upper Montclair, NJ

Holiday Decorations at The Stickley Museum – Morris Plains, NJ 

Beginning in mid-November, The Stickley Museum puts on a magical holiday decorations display. Tours run Thursday through Sunday at 12:15, 1:15, 2:15 and 3:15 p.m. This is a cool old world way to get into the holiday spirit and one of the best holiday events in and around Jersey City.

The Log House will be festooned for the holidays in period style with a focus on Gustav Stickley’s own ideas about the season. Newark Annual Tree Holiday Lighting Celebration – Newark, NJ

On November 27 at 4 pm, Newark will be having their annual tree lighting. The tree lighting will take place at 6 pm. There will be lot and street parking and the rain date is the 26th. The whole event is free.

This is an annual event in Chester, NJ and is a charitable event with the goal to raise awareness and support for the Senior Resource Center (SRC). The event takes place from December 2 to the 9th. Summer Movies In the Park: city-wide, Jersey City

The city of Jersey City puts together an annual Movies in the Park series across multiple parks in Jersey City. Every year, movies in the parks in  Jersey City get more exciting as the movie titles are always classics, or just-released films. All movies are free at each park, and getting there early with comfy chairs, blankets and snacks is a must! Keep checking the city website for the summer schedule and movies that are playing in each park.

Outdoor Movie Nights: Newport Green Playground, Jersey City

Newport Green Playground offers movies in the parks in Jersey City, and it starts at the end of June this year, kicking off with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on June 28th. Admission is free, and you’ll be able to grab some Italian Ice from Loradella’s ice cart. Keep checking the Newport Jersey City Apartments Facebook page for events throughout the summer. Movies Under the Stars: Pier A Park, Hoboken

Movies in the parks in Hoboken and Jersey City don’t get much better than the Movies Under the Stars events. Located at Pier A Park, Mama Johnson Field, and Maxwell Place Park in Hoboken, these weekly movies in the park are free!
