There are several places where you can get great views of this magnificent fireworks show. The fireworks still take place over the East River, but unlike the last five years, when the display was centered on midtown, the fireworks will be launching from barges positioned near the Brooklyn Bridge. You will be able to view these fireworks from JC the more south you go.
This is the fireworks display to see if you have the opportunity. It’s the most massive Independence Day fireworks presentation in the United States. It is anticipated that more than 3 million spectators will enjoy viewing it from various locations throughout Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and New York City. For entertainment, Jennifer Hudson will be performing.

– East River State Park– FDR Drive At Houston Street:
This is a little further away from the main action and is designated as an official viewing spot by Macy’s. There should still be a clear vantage from East River State Park.
– East 16th Street and Avenue
Previously, this location has served as an official ADA-compliant place. While the show begins a 9 pm, crowds start arriving in the late afternoon.
– FDR Drive at 23rd Street
This location has the added benefit of having an elevated pedestrian ramp, making for a great vantage point to take in the show. It’s also close to a couple of the barges at the lower end of the chain.
– FDR Drive at 34th Street
The FDR Drive at 34th Street offers exceptional views and is a popular location which is sure to have a sizeable crowd. This location is also designated by Macy’s as an official viewing spot.
– FDR Drive at 42nd Street
This location is almost parallel to the barges where the fireworks will be set off. It’s sure to have a great view and also a large crowd.
The new Domino Park will be open. It has exceptional views and might be a location to get a decent view of the fireworks.
If you want less of a crowd and aren’t worried about a spectacular view of the fireworks, this location might work. It’s a little bit farther away and should have a decent view and be less crowded than other options.
This park is a spot, which is slightly closer to the fireworks than some of the places on the Williamsburg waterfront and should offer a great view of the fireworks.
– Long Island City – Gantry Plaza State Park – Hunter’s Point South Park
If you’re in Queens, you can find unobstructed firework views at Gantry Plaza and Hunter’s Point South Parks. Hunter’s Point South Park is directly beside several of the fireworks barges assuring you a stellar view of the fireworks. Get there early as it’s sure to be crowded.
