As the holiday season approaches, it’s so important to give back before we dig into our delicious meals. It’s the season of giving back, and especially with everything happening around us, it is essential to help the ones in need. Therefore, we went ahead and compiled a list of the places for Thanksgiving food donation, where you can donate food, canned foods, and other supplies that would help many in need!

Please contact the organizations directly for more information and what they need exactly, depending on the day.

November is the month that never stops GIVING.

My Gym Jersey City Staff has kindly donated canned foods to HOPE HOUSE. Our Canned Food collection ends on November 21st.

Hope House, an emergency shelter for homeless women with children, helps families become self-sufficient by giving them an opportunity for decision-making and assuming responsibility for improving their situation under the supervision, support, and guidance of shelter staff. Housing up to 20 mothers and their children, the program offers short-term supervised residence, including three meals a day, assessment/planning, case management, housing, education, food, and clothing.

We would love your help!

We are accepting all kinds of Canned Foods. EXAMPLES
Canned fruits, vegetables, or beans.
Canned protein (tuna, salmon, chicken, etc.)
Canned soup, stew, broth, pasta sauce.
Packaged foods (seeds, nuts, oats, granola, rice, quinoa, beans, pasta)
Plastic jar foods (nut/seed butter, jelly, cooking oil)

Hazel – The Season of Giving – York St Project Giving Campaign 2023

Help us fill the York Street Project hall with presents to bring some cheer and happiness to a potentially difficult time in a family’s life.
Beginning Friday, November 24th through Tuesday, November 28th – contact us to purchase a holiday gift for one a child currently experiencing homelessness in the Jersey City area.

The York Street Project was formally established in 1989 to help homeless and economically disadvantaged women and children break the cycle of poverty and into a life of self-sufficiency. Out of the need to break this cycle of poverty, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace established the York Street Project, a network of four interrelated programs designed to take on the most basic of needs: housing, education and childcare.

7th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

Charles B Swensen Realty LCC is teaming up with the Riverview Neighborhood Association for the 7th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Please drop off non-perishable food at Charles B Swensen Realty 289 Central Ave and whole frozen Turkeys to Dahlias Ice Cream Spot 290 Central Ave. Drop off hours: Mon. – Friday 11 am – 7 pm. Sat. 10 am – 6 pm Sun. 11 am – 5 pm.

Thanksgiving Dinner Items Needed: Turkeys, turkey gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, apple cider, canned cut yams, pumpkin pie, canned veggies, bread rolls.

St.Lucy’s Emergency Shelter

St. Lucy’s Emergency Shelter is a supervised 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, year-round emergency shelter facility for single women and men, offering emergency housing and food for those in need. The shelter provides two meals daily and is always looking for food donations. Get in touch and let them know in advance if you are planning any Thanksgiving food donations.

Saint Peter’s University Campus Kitchen

The Campus Kitchen at Saint Peter’s University, established in September 2014, is a community service program that seeks to save food that would be wasted in dining halls, cafeterias, and grocery stores and creates nutritious meals for those struggling with hunger. They are always looking for food donations, canned goods, and supplies.

York Street Project

The mission of the York Street Project is to weave innovative programs that shelter, feed, educate, and promote the healing as well as the independence of persons in need, especially women and their children. Additionally, there are many opportunities to get involved with the York Street Project, including donation drives, working with children, internships, and more! They are also always looking for donations, especially during the holiday season.

Family Promise of Hudson County

Family Promise addresses homelessness by utilizing the resources of volunteer congregations. Congregations provide space in their buildings as temporary homes for homeless families. Each Family Promise affiliate also has a day center where families can take showers, receive case management, and look for housing and jobs. This holiday season, go ahead and donate funds, donate items, or volunteer. 

Hoboken Shelter

The Hoboken Shelter’s mission is to be a community partnership that transforms lives by providing meals for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, and services to support people to become housed. Additionally, Hoboken Shelter is always looking for donations of meals, canned goods, and other supplies.

The Sharing Place

One of Hudson County’s oldest and largest food pantries serving the needs of low and very-low-income families and individuals, The Sharing Place provides groceries (including fresh produce, meats, proteins, dairy, eggs, and non-perishables) each month. Also, you can always donate food supplies to the pantry.

The Hoboken Food Pantry stocks its pantry through generous donations from local grocery stores, food drives organized by local schools or community groups, individual donations, including through their Wish List, and purchases at the Community Bank of NJ. There are also various ways you can help them listed on their website. 

West Side Community Fridge 

24/7 Free food fridge in West Side Jersey City, NJ
Delaware Ave. cemetery dead-end/Duncan 

West Side Community Fridge is located at 300 Delaware Avenue. The West Side Community Fridge concept is pretty simple: Take what you need, leave what you can. Additionally, they accept food daily, including Thanksgiving, so feel free to stop by and donate.
