Have a fun day at the beach

What better way to spend a scorching summer day than at the beach? Luckily, there are many gorgeous beaches near Jersey City to choose from. The best part about them is that they also offer many fun activities for both children and adults.

Fun activities for grandparents & grandchildren

Here are the two best beaches for grandparents and grandchildren near JC:

  • Besides many lovely beaches to play on, Asbury Park offers so much more to do. Your grandkids could never get bored! There are so many great activities, events, and restaurants on Asbury Park Boardwalk that it will be hard for you to convince them it’s time to go home.
  • Point Pleasant Beach is probably the most popular and favorite beach for families in JC. The main attraction is definitely Jenkinson’s Boardwalk. It offers great amusement rides and delicious food. But the best part is that Jenkinson’s Aquarium is right there, and all the kids love it.

Visit America’s most touchable aquarium

Adventure Aquarium is a great place to take your grandkids and enjoy seeing interesting underwater species. With over 15,000 aquatic animals to see, both you and your grandchildren will learn so much while having fun at the same time. It’s also the only aquarium in the world where you can see hippos and one of only six places in the entire US where you can see Little Blue penguins.

Check out Please Touch Museum

The Please Touch Museum has a long tradition. It was founded by Montessori educator Portia Sperr in 1976. Besides being fun for kids of all ages, it’s also very educational and focuses on children learning through play. Although it’s not in JC, it’s only about an hour and a half drive away.

With two huge floors of exhibits, a theater, a carousel, and an art room, a good time is guaranteed. The best part about this place is that your grandkids will be gaining many essential skills and learning new things. Plus, there are also special events being organized occasionally.

Go bowling

One of the most favorite activities for many families is bowling. It’s a fun and affordable way to bond with your grandkids and have a great time. There are plenty of bowling places in JC to choose from to spend a cold and rainy day.

Have a picnic at one of the great JC parks

When the day is sunny and warm, it’s a shame to spend it indoors, especially when you live in Jersey City. Besides the great beaches we already wrote about, JC is full of gorgeous parks with stunning greenery. In fact, there are over 60 parks in JC to choose from. Why not take your grandchildren to one of them and have a picnic?

For instance, if you want to be close to the beach and have different amusement options close, make sure to visit Newport Green Park. If you want to enjoy your picnic surrounded by gorgeous trees while looking at the Statue of Liberty, Liberty State Park is the place to go.

Make sure to involve your grandkids in picnic preparations. You can make sandwiches and lemonade together and use that time to bond even more.

Spend a day at Storybook Land

One of the best amusement parks in New Jersey, which also has over 60 years of experience, is Storybook Land. Every single attraction is based on nursery rhymes and children’s classic stories. This place will show your kids the joy of reading and probably remind you of days when you were a kid yourself. Make sure to visit around Christmas or Halloween and participate in one of the special events.
