We highly recommend checking these places out which are perfect for a summer day and a great experience. Volunteers run the show and organize 100% of the Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse. They welcome donations. In 2004 a group of kayaking enthusiasts, with help from the City of Hoboken and Downtown Boathouse of New York City, began offering free kayaking to the public and at the moment, they are offering free paddle days and while maintaining the social distancing. Winding River Campground is open for camping and canoeing, kayaking, and tubing. Also, face masks are required and social distancing enforced. The playground, basketball courts, volleyball courts, pool, and rec hall are closed. Take a trip down the shore to enjoy a day of activities. Keep in mind, they are about an hour and 30 minutes away from Jersey City so it would be perfect for a weekend trip and enjoy camping as well.
Lakeview Marina utilizes the top of the line skis, wakeboards, tubes, and safety equipment and each group receives its own competition wakeboard/ski boat and driver/instructor. They are about an hour away from downtown Jersey City. You can enjoy a day of tubing, tube surfing, kayaking, and paddleboarding here with the family. All their activities are by appointment only.

Monksville Reservoir is a beautiful and serene reservoir located in the New Jersey Highlands, in Long Pond Ironworks State Park. The reservoir has a surface area of 505 acres, and spans about three miles from end to end. The reservoir is surrounded by forest, including hiking trails such as the Monks Trail Circular. While being easily accessible from NYC and other densely populated areas of NJ, Monksville is secluded, rustic and peaceful. It is about an hour from Jersey City.
