Jersey City always offers vibrant and delicious food options, and even though COVID is still here, we can’t help but admire these fantastic businesses that bring us new cuisines and food to try out! We are lucky to have an array of food options that include indoor and outdoor dining in Jersey City. Also, more expanding! Therefore, we decided to create this list of new food spots you must check out.

Rabble & Lion Coffee has been a staple at local markets like the Van Vorst Farmer’s Market and Hamilton Park Farmer’s Market. All the coffee is roasted in small batches in Brooklyn and packaged and sold fresh. Their cafe is now open and serving your favorite lattes as well as fresh pastries.

There is a brand new Mexican restaurant now open in McGinley Square. Taco Bar is from the owners of ITA and Carvao BBQ, offering delicious tacos and cocktails worth checking out. They are located at 684 Bergen Ave. Jersey City.

Chickies

After a long wait, Chickies is now open in Hamilton Park, located at 236 Pavonia Avenue, in the space formerly occupied by GP’s Hamilton Park. Chickies is managed by the same team behind Hamilton Inn and Hamilton Pork. They will offer a mix of Italian food, sandwiches, pizza, salads, and more.

Cafe Alyce

Cafe Alyce is now open! The BYOB restaurant was formerly the Medical Center Luncheonette right in front of The Beacon. The cafe comes from the owners of Bergen Lafayette’s Hooked JC.

Hoboken’s Cafe Vista is coming to Jersey City. The new cafe — called Dream Vista will open soon at 177 York Street in the former home of Vogue Cafe. Cafe Vista offers a variety of coffee, teas, lattes, pastries, + health-focused bites, which they will be bringing to JC too!

Tamborim is a brand new Brazilian restaurant officially open in the old Atlas space at 130 Newark Ave. Additionally, this new venture comes from the owner of Broa Cafe, another Jersey City favorite. They offer delicious Brazilian food and yummy cocktails.

Brick Lane Curry

Brick Lane Curry is a London-style Indian restaurant offering spicy curries and delicious Indian dishes! Additionally, they also have Indian-inspired cocktails.

199 Warren St, Jersey City

They are now officially open in the Paulus Hook area in Jersey City. They offer everything from pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches, and more! Is it located at the former spot of La-Co? Te at 199 Warren Street.

Yaso Tangbao

30 Hudson St, Jersey City

They offer delicious Shanghainese street food, including their best-selling soup dumplings.

Eira

Eria Cafe is a Portuguese cafe and bakery that recently opened. They offer a ton of Portuguese baked goods and other yummy eats.

Another yummy pizzeria addition to downtown Jersey City. Jimmy’s Brooklyn Pizza & Deli (HALAL Food) has many where I can buy prednisone for my cat options like your favorite pizza, pasta, salad, and more.

Saigon Bistro

Saigon Bistro is a brand new option to check out in the Heights of Jersey City. Yet, they stay true to their roots, serving authentic southern Vietnamese cuisine and Asian Fusion dishes to the local and surrounding community. So definitely, try their homemade Pho, Banh Mi, and other unique regional Vietnamese offerings!

The Cottage

The Cottage is a brand new bakery and artisanal market located in McGinley Square along Monticello Avenue. The market/event space has various food items ranging from homemade croissants, donuts, sandwiches, coffee, and more! Efes has two other locations in New Jersey and has decided to expand to Jersey City this year. So get excited about some delicious authentic Mediterranean and Turkish food!

Automats are like self-service vending machines where customers insert coins or use their cards to buy hot food. Now, this technology has come to Jersey City. All you need to do is scan a QR code when you arrive to access the menu and then you can order and pay on your phone. Then, your food will be ready and directly in the cubby to be picked up.

A new Peruvian restaurant is coming to Jersey City Heights. Sabor a Peru will soon open at 280 Central Avenue. (They’re located across the street from Irma’s Cafe and next to Renato’s). They cook traditional Peruvian dishes, always hot, fresh and specially cooked for you whenever you want.

Meet Fresh

Taiwanese dessert franchise Meet Fresh USA is now open in Newport. Their menu is based on traditional Taiwanese desserts, which include shaved ice bowls, a large selection of tea drinks, including milk tea and boba + more! They will be located inside Newport Tower at 525 Washington Boulevard.

The Cookie Connect

A new late-night cookie shop is opening in Hoboken!! The Cookie Connect is soon to open its third location at 305 1st Street! The cookies come in different flavors such as fruity pebble, Nutella stuffed chocolate chip, fluffatella s’mores, coconut caramel, and more!
