You can join a holiday tour if you are a tourist here and want to see the best holiday lights in and around Jersey City. This way, you will not only enjoy the lights and the beautiful decorations, but you will also see three different lighting ceremonies – the first in Cape May City, the second in Congress Hall, and the third in Emlen Physick Estate. But that is not all – you can also eat breakfast with Santa, shop at the Christmas Bazar, make handmade tree decorations at Christmas Convention Hall, and much more.
Ocean City
Ocean City might be the perfect holiday destination if you are not all about the Christmas vibes. This city is full of wonderful people who make the holiday season special. It is true – Ocean City has one of the most close-knit communities in the world. But that does not mean that they do not welcome strangers. They do! And they are willing to do almost anything to make them feel a bit more ‘Christmasy.’ So, even if you are not that into holidays, people here will change your perspective with great Christmas activities in the city. Namely, throughout the entire month of December, Ocean City offers free horse and carriage rides, photos with Santa, Christmas parades, live performances by the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company, etc. But, we will leave it up to you to go there and explore for yourself – you will not be disappointed.
Princeton
Princeton turns into the most magical place this time of the year. If you happen to go there, be warned – you will want to move instantly. Fortunately, Princeton treats its residents well. Trust us – you will want to pack in no time for your upcoming move and relocate to enjoy this wonderland. Streets covered in snow, massive Christmas trees, decorated homes, cheerful carolers, the smell of Christmas cookies and hot chocolate, and the ultimate holiday spirit make Princeton one of the best Christmas getaways near Jersey City. Once you come here, do not forget to check out the Historical Society of Princeton and the Morven Museum’s Festival of Trees. And, of course, if you want to make the end of your extra getaway special, reserve a spot at the Holiday Wine Trails Weekend.
Atlantic City
Just a short drive away from our Jersey City is the famous Atlantic City. This place is primarily known for its casinos, but who says you cannot enjoy them and Christmas simultaneously? Thus, Atlantic City is the place to be if you want to try your luck and fill yourself with the holiday spirit. And, who knows – maybe you’ll win some money along the way to buy some of the best Christmas trees right here and take them home to surprise your loved ones. Then, you can continue exploring the city and buildings decorated with the most beautiful lights. In addition, you can listen to carolers, go to one of many different holiday concerts, or try some of the best Christmas-themed dishes from 5-star restaurants. And, as long as you are here, do not miss out on the Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt at the Tanger Outlets.
Chester
Last but certainly not least on our list of the best Christmas getaways near Jersey City is Chester. If anything, this place is full of holiday cheer. Like all other places we mentioned, this also has many unique Christmas features – meeting Santa, attending the festival of trees, eating with Santa’s elves, petting the reindeer, etc.
As you can see, Chester is more oriented toward children. Because of that, this village is the number one place grandparents take their children to during the holidays. Is there anything sweeter than that? However, this does not mean that adults will be bored here. Adults can leave their children at Santa’s workshop and go shopping at Chester Shopping Center. Here, you can find a holiday gift for anybody (including yourself). And, when you get tired from all the strolling, you can treat yourself to some mulled wine and enjoy the Christmas sights of this beautiful place.
