Wow, thanks for the wonderful article. Love all your kitchen tips esp the low-fat vinaigrette dressing. Anything low fat sounds good these days 🙂

I know what you mean. It was hard having my newborn son last winter. Taking off all those layers to change his diaper, putting them back on, taking them off again… summer has been such a godsend!

Oh, for a baby, one of those Carter’s teddy bear things to wear was wonderful for keeping him warm outside. He might be too old for it this year.

That teddy-bear get-up is a must have, Tina! Lots of warm, snuggly blankets also! Short walks, and stimulating indoor activities should serve you well!
And play-dates with Toni will help, too! 🙂

I have been using this for a year now and cannot tell you how much money I have saved on diapers and wipes. Also, no lugging big diaper boxes home from store! They arrive on your doorstep! Target diapers are also great and somewhat inexpensive, but I found some diaper brands on Amazon (with discount) are even cheaper than target (up and up) brand.
Good luck!

This is very informative and cost effective on diapers. Shoprite baby bucks program is also very good.Every time when you spend $100.00 on Baby Bucks products , you’ll automatically be rewarded with a $10 Baby Bucks Coupon at the bottom of your register receipt. Use your Baby Bucks coupon to buy any products in shoprite store except those prohibited by law, with a minimum purchase of $50. Baby Bucks points are reset at the beginning of each cycle. And beside this $10 off you also receive different coupons for Pampers.

Hi Kranthi,
I’d strongly suggest that you stick to facilities along the Broadway strip. Veering off of the main road can be questionable as I have friends who have had (unfortunately) poor experiences with some centers in Bayonne. There have also been a number of reports related to improper handling of children, specifically Kimber Day Care. Bayonne PAL is an excellent site and offers a progressive educational setting as your child grows. Good luck! 🙂

Romparoo has always been one of my favorite places – the girls that run the classes are always full of energy and smiles and the space is just the right size for toddlers. They also have a great way to minimize passing yucky germs around – if it goes in a mouth, it goes in the bucket for washing later.
They also read a story at the end of class so the little ones settle down after all the jumping, singing and bubbles. Great list!

We made our yearly fall trip on Sunday. It was a bit more crowded than last year, but well worth it. The food was great and so were the apples. I can’t wait to start my fall baking now!

I wanted to post this for the store down the block from me on Sussex Street. I LOVE her stuff and it is so meaningful. She takes your children’s fingerprints and makes it into jewelry. She does it for pets too.
I get nothing for posting this- just thought i would share because of how cool it is. (Plus she makes house calls to get the prints)
My necklace with my two kids fingerprints is in the middle.
Right now she is doing a buy one get one.
Check it out http://www.loveprintjewelry.com
I delivered there. Amazing experience all around!
My son was the first student at the downtown Smart Start location when they first opened.. We had many ups and downs with the school throughout the year he was there.. Given they were brand new to the neighborhood we didn’t have much info to go on when we were first looking, and there weren’t many great options. In summary, they market very well, have good facilities and care about your children, however there is very limited developmental opportunities and a lot of considerations to be had once they start, which I’ve laid out below. I hope this review is seen as insightful for folks that need a comprehensive assessment of the school from a parents perspective.
PROs
– Mostly safe
– Clean facility
– Extremely flexible hours, and accommodating if you need to pick-up in the middle of the day those few times you need that open.
– Great location near the Path
– Staff is always very friendly
– Pricing is very competitive with the neighborhood
– Many trips around the neighborhood
CONS
– Our child was in an accident with one of the pieces of furniture and they didn’t change anything after the first time, and the same accident happened again, which they then added additional safety for that piece of furniture.. They gave us the reason of it being ‘NJ certified’ furniture as to why they didn’t want to change it after it was shown to be dangerous the first time after the injury..
– Poor communication, resulting in delayed responses and making it difficult to plan accordingly.
– There are an excessive amount of days off that are taken by the school, especially compared to other options.
– There is a very large turnover of staff and only a few main staff members actually stay on for an extended period of time
– Very cheap financially. We gave a month and a half notice that we were going to change schools, and because we didn’t technically give them 2 months notice as per their policy, even though they could easily backfill the role, they still held on to our deposit.
– The staff if paid poorly (which we learned from one of them who is now a waitress at a restaurant in the neighborhood) and when they’re closed they say it’s for staff training, but they do not get paid for the time they are closed
– There is a very weak program for the children when they hit age of 2. There is very little for the child to do to still develop
– Parent / Teacher session was not very informative and only told us things we already knew. We stopped going after the 1st.
– No focus on potty training
– For the waddlers in the back, there is no natural sun that comes in the rooms
– Extremely small open space in the back

Hello All, we are moving from Jersey City to suburbs last week of December and I would highly recommend our nanny Miriam Caceres to anyone who is looking for a full time nanny. She has been with us for 31/2 years, a second mother to my 6-8 years old , extremely dependable, super patient and loving. I and our kids dote on her. She is super efficient around the house, keeps the place clean everyday, does kids laundry and cooks food for kids whenever requested. She has kept us sane, especially with my work schedule. She is very familiar with Jersey city , takes our kids to classes, helps them with homework ( with 6 year old daughter) and above all she is honest, and is genuinely like an extended member of our family. She has a great family, both she and her husband have helped us many times with shopping , offered to take care of kids for few hours on the weekends. Above all she does not gossip, something I have noticed with other nannies and have personally experienced it. We have been are extremely fortunate to have her and hoping she can find a loving family she deserves. While ideally we would wish for her to find an employment starting Jan, however I also do not wish for her to lose an opportunity should there be one earlier in mid Dec. Please contact me if you are interested .I can be reached at 917-583-7165 . Monica Sadhu

I’m a producer with NBC News national network here in NYC.
I’m reaching out with a request in finding a family who is struggling with childcare costs. Looking to highlight a family where both parents have to work or one must stay home because childcare costs are too high. Or perhaps a single mom trying to work and pay for childcare.
They would have to be willing to share their story on camera and be open about their financial struggle to pay for childcare.
Looking to do the interview this week, Monday Dec. 11 or Tuesday Dec. 12.
Thanks for any help or leads.
Kindest regards,
Elizabeth

Hi all! I’m working on a TV pilot about gender, and we’re seeking a couple who is planning to have a gender reveal party for their baby during the weekend of 2/17/18. We’re hoping to find an excited couple who would let our tiny, respectful crew film their event. Any interested couples should email Cara at [email protected]. Thanks so much!
Nice! Thanks!
Northern Soul over by the Sky Club is also pretty close to Jersey City the Heights, I’m pretty sure they’re doing an event as well.
Hoboken hospital and their maternity ward should be SHUT DOWN. The experience described was no where near what I had. I learned about the pampered pregnancy program and spoke with the representatives at various baby fairs in the area and believe me it was not at all pampered. I felt like I was a prisoner in a third world country. In general, the nurses were not very supportive, pushed me for a C-section (after I was told that the head nurse wanted to make it for a BBQ lunch they were having on that day), left me on an uncomfortable and painful gurney approximately 5 hours, did not allow me to see my baby for about 6.5 hours, refused to give me medication, and when questioned, indicated I would have to remember to ask for my medication. They made it an ordeal to take me to breastfeed my baby and were all around unprofessional. I was told that I should have been left on the gurney to make it easier to be wheeled to the NICU due to difficulty accessing the unit and then asked if I could use the wheelchair hours after a forced unnecessary C-section. I was bullied by hospital staff and surrounded by a entire team who could not provide me a reason for C-section with the exception that it had been over 6 hours since my admission and that was what hospital policy allows. In addition, when I asked to lower the amount of epidural because I felt numb on one side, the anesthesiologist seemed annoyed and said, “I’m not doing this again” if I needed the levels to be changed again. I could not wait to leave there! No gourmet meals, robes, or candles. The hospital has less than a 10% breastfeeding rate and the nurses I had the pleasure of dealing with did not understand English, therefore there was a language barrier as well. If that’s not enough, I refused to get a vaccine for my baby, stating I would have my pediatrician do it, and was told they did it anyway and to sign the form. The pediatrician who cleared my baby appeared so inept that he couldn’t put a diaper on and handed my baby back to me without a diaper on. I’ve heard the hospital is in bad shape and the staff they hire is at most subpar and had significant issues with their maternity ward. They are trying to re-introduce themselves as baby-friendly and a “great” place to birth by allowing midwives privileges, however they lack the necessary training and have not changed their hospital policies to provide women the choices they are entitled to when it comes to birth. This place is unsupportive, unprofessional, and the most traumatic experience ever. Furthermore, while I was there the maternity ward was a like a ghost-town. Their were only three other women in the entire ward. Please, if you don’t want to face such trauma, do your research and DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! I’ve birthed before and this is the worst place possible. Oh and the hospital bill….WOW! They got more from my insurance company than places in the city billed!

Are you aware that kids are being turned away from their local public school in JC and put on a bus to another part of the city due to overcrowding downtown? PS16 is sending kids to a school in Greenville next to a gun shop. Not family friendly!

What is the process and fee to be a vender at this event. My 8 year old has a slime business and wants to participate.
Hi, My name is Patty Monges. I manage food vendors all around USA and I make hosting food vendors A LOT easier and beneficial for events.
I can do all of the coordination, city required paperwork and management that comes along with hosting vendors for you, FOR FREE, and increase the amount the vendors pay you.
I only work with local food vendors and my goal is provide them with more access to events.
Let me know if you have any time to discuss in more detail this week.

Hey there, Paypal does’t send you confirmation for the purchase but we will have your names on the list and we will just ask you the name on the credit/debit card was used to make the purchase at the paypal.
We’ve been planning to attend for the past couple weeks but I wasn’t sure of our final count. The website said we could buy till 12:30 and warned the price might go up but not that there was a cutoff of attendees. If it had, I would have guessed at our number and purchased earlier. Now it says tickets are not being sold and it is before 12:30. Is there any way you can help?
I’m with Christina…We have been planning to attend for the past couple of weeks and were waiting on a final count…it’s before 12:30. We have 2 adults in our family and 1 child. We have been coordinating with another family. I can gets tickets for us…or for both families. It’s before 12:30 and says its sold out. Doubtful everyone will show because of the weather and doubtful everyone will show up at the same time. We have really been looking forward to it.
Please advise if there is anything you can do now or at the door. Thanks in advance.
The tickets are open now but as soon as we get sold out, we will remove the payment link. Thank you!
Same here , I wasn’t sure if my husband was able to attend, so I left the purchase of the tickets till today, cuz the website said before 12:30, any help please?
We thought we could buy tickets until 12:30. But not it’s saying sold out. Is it possible to get 3?
We also RSVP’d for three already.
Please try now as we have few last tickets left and as soon as we get sold out we will remove the payment link.
I rsvp’d it’s for a adults and 2 children, now it says sold out. Can anything be done? Thank you
Please try now as we have few last tickets left and as soon as we get sold out we will remove the payment link.
We’re in the same boat, for 4 people. Pretty sure we’re out of luck because it’s 3pm and everyone will be busy organizing. It’s a shame, too, we were really looking forward to it.

I am looking to write an article that you can post on your blog. The article will be well-researched based on the large pool travel experts that our company has access to. In exchange, I was hoping that you could credit our online travel media site for providing the article to you. Please let me know if you would be interested?

Double check for Angel Azul it’s supposed to Colombian and Ecuadorian breakfasts, as they not serve Cambodian options.
Who the heck doesn’t include the Brownstone and instead adds a corporate place like Turning Point, or a lousy one like Greek From Greece (and I say that as a Greek).
Why does it end so early?

The bounce house and train tickets will be $4 and pumpkin painting is between $3 to $4.
So just to clarify, the Cultural Diversity Festival and Harvest Festival are happening at the same place, at the same time?
Yes, That is correct.
Is that City Hall or Hamilton Park? The event flyer and description conflict.
Looking forward to coming with my grandson Hardin can’t wait.
Do we have to pay for the train ride for the kids or that for free?
If they could charge you for breathing, they would
We ask our families to donate so we can arrange all free activities, unfortunately we are not funded by the City or any other organization, please donate next time so we can make activities free for all.
Get a life
We ask our families to donate so we can arrange all free activities, unfortunately we are not funded by the City or any other organization, please donate next time so we can make activities free for all.
This isn’t really a festival. It’s a gathering of people taking money from other people under the guise of a festival. Nothing is free .you’re better off going to the park
We ask our families to donate so we can arrange all free activities, unfortunately we are not funded by the City or any other organization, please donate next time so we can make activities free for all.
Seriously? Let me guess, you pretty much go through life complaining about everything, including events no one is forcing you to attend. Pretty sad.

We are hoping to find a new family for our amazing nanny, Melissa, who lives in Jersey Coty. Melissa has been with us for almost two years, since shortly after the birth of our second child. Our kids absolutely love her, and she them. She is warm, loving and kind, and is a joy to have in our home. She really takes time to get to know the kids and engage with them around their interests, and also support their development, for example, teaching our little one colors, counting, and letters. In addition to caring and cooking for our children, Melissa also regularly cleans our apartment and does the whole family’s laundry. She has truly been a godsend for us! Since the stay-at-home orders began, she has been especially helpful to us as we both try to work from home, keeping the kids out of our hair, helping with distance learning, and saving us from drowning under piles of dishes and laundry.
We had hoped to keep her on through the summer and then part-time once both boys are (hopefully!) in school in the fall, but due to a change in our circumstances, we are unable to keep her on past June. Melissa lives in Jersey City, NJ. She has been practicing strict social distancing in her own life, and is diligent in making sure our children are doing the same when she takes them outside. She even made masks for our kids!
Please let me know ([email protected]) if you might be interested or know of anyone who might and we will happily connect you with her!
Hello wonderful people,
I’m Fjolla, I just moved in Jersey City.
If any of you knows a family who has a child with special human needs and family needs a break any weekend please
let them know that I’m off during the weekends and I’m willing to spend the day with their child and make him/her nothing but happy that day.
ps. NO MONEY AND NO THANK YOU ACCEPTED! ( the love that I will get in return is going to be enough)
Please check the info before posting. Sitting here at newport green at 4pm and their sprinkler, playground and sand area are all closed!! We came here after seeing this update.
Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!|
Is this blog written before COVID-19? I wanted to make sure that these Restaurants are now open.
By the way thanks for this list. It really helps!
I called the hotline number for Covid-19 that you posted above. The 24/7 hotline doesn’t answer. I have had my phone just ringing, and ringing. It’s not very helpful.
Lol, do you have to wear masks while your photo is being taken? 😛
Didn’t receive a link and I registered
We were very disappointed with this school and took our child out. They used to have trouble retaining students at the middle school level due to other choices but are now having trouble retaining lower grade students as well. We know MANY other families who also pulled their kids out. Be sure to do your research before choosing this school! (and don’t just go by online reviews that are often probably planted).
I THINK MISS SIMS IS A BEAUTIFULL WOMAN
You’re missing West Side. The neighborhoods mentions are obvious.
I was born and raised in Jersey City. Jersey City was a nice place to live during my childhood. Downtown is so welcoming and beautiful. I’m impressed ?
Now I hope they revitatje Greenville section. Make it beautiful like the Downtown areas mentioned.
Here are the top 5 according to this article: downtown, downtown, downtown, downtown, The Heights. Laziest article ever.
You are entitled to your own opinion.
Society Hill/Droyer’s Point is beautiful as well…
You don’t get around much, do you? Everything you mentioned is Downtown, except for one Heights neighborhood. Ever hear of Marion, Lincoln Park, the Western Slope, or the center of Journal Square, for just a start? Westside? Maybe you can get Vie to show you the 90% of the city that you missed.
For months we have been trying to add our NON-PROFIT JERSEY CITY BASED ORGANIZATION to these lists.
Our summer camp is low-cost and there are scholarship opportunities available.
Please send an email [email protected]
Unfortunately, We have never received an email from you. we have one blog just for free summer camps in the area: https://jcfamilies.com/free-summer-camp-kids-in-jersey-city/
I will be coming with my wife and daughter
Hey, I’m a kids party entertainer and would like to be a vendor at this event. I do balloon twisting, face paint, magic show etc.
Only one if the 3 restaurants mentioned are located in Jersey City
I don’t even know where the closest Rain Forest Cafe is!!!!!
Is this geared more for younger children (i.e. 2-3) or would it be fun for kids 4-6?
For kids from 6 months to 6 years
Everychild waits for summer activities to enroll. Nice article for keeping interest. Thanks!
Who is singing at tonight’s event?
Same as every week, carol lester

Boooooooooooo
The flyer says this event is taking place at City Hall Plaza, but the event description says it’s at Hamilton Park. Is it at the park?
Thank you.
Does the event include fleamarket vendors.
Will this event include fleamarket vendors
I lost confidence in this article after the author compared Hamilton park, which I live adjacent to, to central park. Hands down no comparison.
You are right no comparison. Hamilton Park is so clean, safe, even at night, family friendly but great for friends to hang out in without worrying about crazy people or homeless attacking them. Same goes for beautiful Van Vorst park and who can forget our huge state park Liberty State Park. People can jog at night without being attacked. So definitely no comparison to NYC Central Park. 😉
That article has left a few things out. Most of what was written is just a quick look into the city. Jersey City Is Not that safe. Be on guard of the area you pick to live in. It’s Expensive, plagued with rodents, buildings cramped together and the parking is hirendous! There is never any parking. Instead consider small towns in a few cities over. Elizabeth, Rahway, Islin, Colonia and they all have access to NY via train, bus, or a ride share. Sorry… but I know 1st hand. Born and raised there. I love my city but it is what it is.
Yes I had a realtor show me around in the day tome, time, we moved in I said I eant my money back. It’s a lot of Dope Feins Crackheads Drug dealers and Mental health issues is really high. The schools are rated 3or 4 which is super low and it by zip code. Schools sounded like Zoos. I live in Jersey City my kids Go to school in NyC, when I got my children tested to move in JC schools they both was 2 years advanced. The systems out her are slow .No updated DMV systems,The Human Resources Administration has Carbon 3 sheets of paper per interviews. Not done like NyC tho it’s like it’s the early 90s out here. Now I don’t under stand why the systems are so slow and we are that close to NYC. The path train you can not use your phone to go or your card the systems are not upgraded ?hmm
It’s a whole lot hidden. Oh and it’s no programs out here they don’t have the funding like NYC so of you work in NYC and make over 22 hrs you can win in JC tho if you on benefits and working stay in NyC the housing court out here is 7 days and if you don’t have the money u have to MOVE e. Housing Court is not how NYC and its programs. It’s what they call Hot Shit out here. I say look and visit at night time.Book a hotel stay and move around as if you just moved. Are the ppl in the are friendly with out ment health issues.Trust me you rather just stick with NYC. Take care and God Bless Us All
Be careful what you read in article that says JC is a great place to live, you need to do your own research about a place to live, JC is getting expensive just like NYC they want the same prices for people to pay like in NY the rent laws are different in New Jersey, as well as taxes you have to pay if you want buy property. The public schools you have to research for your children what best for them as well, JUST BEWARE what you get yourself into.
Honest reader. I’ll just second your statement because it’s the truth. I just moved the New Jersey 2 year ago and had to move twice. For better schools and better neighborhood. Research. Research. Research.
I am looking car service to pick up my kid from school. Secaucus road jersey city to golden door charter school.
